Horace Littlefair is a man out of time.  Twenty two-years old, he arrives in London to work on a local newspaper.  His country upbringing has not prepared him for life in the fast lane.  Underprepared and overdressed, his is plunged into a discombobulating world of political intrigue, skulduggery, and Scrabble.  Threatened by disaster and aided by several unlikely friendships, Horace struggles to adapt, falls in love and uncovers the sinister motives behind Barnaby Colefax’s campaign to save the urban fox.
